GMA's Dwarfina ▬ Soundtrack

Award-winning actress Heart Evangelista starts the year on a bright, cheery note, via “Dwarfina,” GMA-7’s first telefantasya offering this 2011. Heart plays a small, big role in the series which premieres Monday, Jan. 10, after “Jillian: Namamasko Po” on GMA Telebabad.

Via “Dwarfina,” the world is seen from the perspective of a little heroine whose deficiency in height she makes up in character, courage and immeasurable kindness. “Dwarfina” follows the magical adventures of a girl barely the size of a finger who finds her place in both the moral and supernatural realms.

Playing opposite Heart is multi-awarded actor Dennis Trillo, whose character Lyndon is Dwarfina’s beloved friend. After their successful team-up in an episode for “Dear Friend” and in the movie “Mano Po,” Heart and Dennis are all set to re-ignite their tandem and deliver fresh and remarkable performances on Philippine TV primetime.

Dennis once said that Heart was his big crush, but he said during the recent press conference for “Dwarfina,” “Yes, but hindi na ngayon,” it’s because both of them are already romantically attached to their own respective loved ones: Daniel Matsunaga for Heart and Jennylyn Mercado for Dennis.

Dennis came to the press conference looking and feeling refreshed and happy after spending a holiday in Hong Kong together with Jennylyn and their respective children. “Masaya ang holiday namin dun,” he said, but it was marred a little, he lamented, when his son got sick and they had to rush him to the hospital. “Mabuti na lang nawala din ang fever niya after two hours. Ang lamig-lamig kasi sa Hong Kong Disneyland.” He also said “magkasundo sina Carlix and Jazz,” and that they really had a great bonding time in Hong Kong.

Asked if we would be hearing wedding bells soon, Dennis said “hindi pa namin napapag-usapan yan ni Jennylyn. Malayo pa, we’re focused on our careers at the moment.” This 2011, Dennis is set to do two movies under Regal Films, one of which is a horror flick entitled “Aswang.”

In the cast of “Dwarfina’s” earthly world are Janice de Belen as Marissa, Dwarfina’s mother who was cursed by a black “duwende;” Chanda Romero, as Selya, Dwarfina’s cruel grandmother; Cris Villanueva as Kardo, Dwarfina’s affectionate father; Mark Bautista as Estong, Lyndon’s friend who works at the pier; Iwa Moto as Lucille, Dwarfina’s jealous sister; Yogo Singh as Buddy, a batang kalye adopted by Lyndon; and up-and-coming Kapuso teen stars Derrick Monasterio as Darius, and Kylie Padilla as Chloe.

Others in the cast are Jackielou Blanco as Dita Abiana, Queen of the Duwendes; Jestoni Alarcon, as Ditu Calixto, King of the Duwendes; Angelika dela Cruz as Romera, the evil dwarf; Emilio Garcia as Hulyano, the rich and ambitious husband of Romero; Pauleen Luna as Gwendina, daughter of Romera and Hulyano; and Tony Mabesa as Nuno Umberto.

Completing the cast are Will Devaughn as Elvin, Dwarfina’s best friend in the supernatural world; Vaness del Moral as Camila, Dwarfina’s loyal servant; and Mico Aytona as Duwentukin, a dwarf tasked to look after Dwarfina. Also featured in a special participation is Ms. Lani Mercado as Andrea, Lyndon’s doting mother.

Directed by Mike Tuviera, “Dwarfina” can also be seen by viewers in the US, Middle East and Asia-Pacific beginning Jan. 12 on GMA Pinoy TV.

Filipino Group 'Bamboo' Disbands

Bad news to all Bamboo fans out there.

The Filipino band, which is composed of Bamboo Mañalac (vocals), Ira Cruz (guitars), Nathan Azarcon (bass), Vic Mercado (drums), has officially split. This was announced by DJ KC Montero on Twitter on Monday.

It was also reported on his radio show. "Bamboo has officially called it quits.. first heard on the KC show by Kat.. tune in www.wave891.fm," Montero tweeted.

"Bamboo is not leaving. They all have decided to move on," he added.

There is no official statement from the group yet.

Bamboo is behind hit songs “Noypi,” “Hallelujah,” and “Tatsulok.”

Facebook Will End on March 15th!

 PALO ALTO, CA –Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March. Managing the site has become too stressful.

“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

Zuckerberg went on to explain that starting March 15th, users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts.

“After March 15th the whole website shuts down,” said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”

Zuckerberg said that the decision to shut down Facebook was difficult, but that he does not think people will be upset.

“I personally don’t think it’s a big deal,” he said in a private phone interview. “And to be honest, I think it’s for the better. Without Facebook, people will have to go outside and make real friends. That’s always a good thing.”

Some Facebook users were furious upon hearing the shocking news.

“What am I going to do without Facebook?” said Denise Bradshaw, a high school student from Indiana. “My life revolves around it. I’m on Facebook at least 10 hours a day. Now what am I going to do with all that free time?”

However, parents across the country have been experiencing a long anticipated sense of relief.

“I’m glad the Facebook nightmare is over,” said Jon Guttari, a single parent from Detroit. “Now my teenager’s face won’t be glued to a computer screen all day. Maybe I can even have a conversation with her.”

Those in the financial circuit are criticizing Zuckerberg for walking away from a multibillion dollar franchise. Facebook is currently ranked as one of the wealthiest businesses in the world, with economists estimating its value at around 7.9 billion.

But Zuckerberg remains unruffled by these accusations. He says he will stand by his decision to give Facebook the axe.

“I don’t care about the money,” said Zuckerberg. “I just want my old life back.”

The Facebook Corporation suggests that users remove all of their personal information from the website before March 15th. After that date, all photos, notes, links, and videos will be permanently erased.

Feb. 15 -  FAIR & SQUARE: Assert equal access to education!

As the University also celebrates the Diliman Arts month in February, this year’s Tuesday night will be celebrated with the UP’s most prestigious artists and performers. We will invite the University’s homegrown artists, cultural performers, as well as guest bands coming from different genre. UP students will not dare miss this event, as it will also be the staging of the first ever “Mr. and Ms. Peyups.”- A pageant like competition which will be participated by a pair representing each 19 colleges in the campus.

The “FAIR and Square” UP Fair night will also highlight the Iskolars’ ng Bayan firm stand to make education accessible to all. As the tuition and other fee increases have become more threatening, the UP students will be at their highest resolve to oppose such schemes, and to strengthen their struggle for an education that is nationalist, scientific, and mass-oriented.

The first night of the UP Fair would be a night of students and Filipinos coming from different generation, celebrating towards one cause.

Feb. 16 -  FAIRst QUARTER STORM: Reaffirming the youth’s historical role in people’s struggles!
 

 What is so special about this USC night is its appeal and recall not just to the contemporary youth but also to the previous generation. With the retro-inspired concept, this is the first ever night in the UP Fair’s long existence which offers a unique theme. The Wednesday night “FAIRst Quarter Storm: Reaffirm the youth’s historical role in people’s struggles” will bring the hottest bands of the nation who are expected to play one 70’s song in line with the theme to revive the essence of collective action during martial law.

History can never deny the upsurge of the student movement during the darkest days of Marcos regime and Diliman commune. It was during these times that the youth mobilized and united with the Filipino people to assert the re-installment of democratic rights and the dismantling of the dictatorship.

This night indeed calls for a renewed fervor of the youth to intensify its unity and reaffirm its historical role. It will surely be a night filled with music, lessons, and memoirs of the past.

The UP Fair Saturday night as the most awaited night and considered highlight of the UP FAIR, never fails to exceed the 10,000 mark in terms of attendees. This year’s Saturday night, “inFAIRno to budget cut! Fire up the fight for greater state subsidy” will bring the country’s best bands hitting the Filipino music channel’s countdown and top-10 charts. It will surely fire up the sunken garden with the best music and best bands.

Even among UP Fair patrons, it has become a common adage that one’s UP Fair experience will never be complete without attending the Saturday night.

Consistent with our week-long theme and our principle that education is a right, this night registers the UP students fight against the commercialization of education and the conscious and systematic state abandonment of education. The fight for greater state subsidy, and the youth’s call for the people’s right to education and other social services, is not confined to UP alone. In fact, such calls have become a global struggle, what with the strikes, protests and mass actions that the international youth movement is continuously staging.

This night ensures a large and diverse crowd: students, young professionals, youth from communities, UP alumni, and attendees from all walks of life because of the very broad advocacy which it forwards, and because of the rightness of its very cause. The Saturday night promises not just an ordinary concert, but a concert at its best.

This is my gear for photographing important events and family reunions. It's an point and shoot compact camera. I'm happy with using this camera but it has many limitations. My concern for having a DSLR camera is the low-light conditions, zooming and the video capabilities. I'm a videography enthusiasts. This may be the reason why I want a dslr.

Mayor Herbert Bautista promotes traffic enforcer who apprehended him for beating the red light

Quezon City Mayor Herbert "Bistek" Bautista has promoted traffic enforcer Sol Botilla, who apprehended him for beating the red light on Tomas Morato, reports Inquirer.net.

At around 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve, Botilla stopped Bautista, who was not accompanied by security escorts at the time. Botilla said he did not recognize the mayor, whom he thought was a Chinese national. Bautista said in the Inquirer.net report, "He only recognized me when I spoke and acknowledged the (traffic) violation."

According to Inquirer.net, Bautista asked Botilla to see him in his office the following day but the latter did not go, afraid of being punished. The Monday after, during the city hall's flag raising ceremony, Bautista commended Botilla, promoting him to supervisor and rewarding him with P10,000.

Botilla, 47, who has been a traffic enforcer of the Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety for 10 years, said he will use the money to pay for his children's tuition.

Some streets are so busy, you should alert your eyes when there are some strangers that asking for something. But one thing for sure is very mysterious to some people. Do you noticed the "Ped Xing" street signs along the major roads? Why the name of sign is "Ped Xing" but there's no street crossing across them. Other man said that it kinda name of a Chinese National. But all of these opinions are not true. Ped Xing is a short term for Pedestrian Crossing.

(Ped Xing is not one of the names of Chinese historical figures, it simply means a shortened pedestrian crossing sign.)***

"Dimmu Borgir" ▬ A new Music Video from Dimmu Borgir

Dimmu Borgir rise again. With their new album "Abrahadabra" launched last September 2010. This new music video is likely the same with the "Gateways" which they have released before.



They are producing more music videos right now. I'm surprised of this new update. When I saw my YouTube homepage, This new video shocked me and I watched quickly. Dimmu Borgir were being commercialized today.

This event was held in SM City Fairview Parking lot. Their guests are amazing, including the rock bands like Bamboo, Urbandub, Soapdish and Rubber Pool. There are full of excitements on that night because one of the very talented comedians was performed the "Bathroom Dance" a parody of Bad Romance. He is Michael V. and I was totally amazed with his dance performance.

I'm a rock music listener. I want to go on the mosh pits area but I had my phone and I had no belt (belt is not allowed inside the barrier area). How do I join the moshing? Haha. But anyway the second night show that I attended was very good. The only thing that I don't like was the blocking of many bouncers on the front barriers. It was annoying so much. My video clips aren't good but it has good audio. If you watch it, don't look too much on the video, just listen LOL.

Do you know Frencheska Farr? She's very appealing to everyone specially on teens.

I thought she is about 20+ of age. But I was surprised that she's only 18 years old. I have read that on her biography. I'm caught by her music video promoted in GMA 7 every commercial break of afternoon dramas. I'm totally impressed with her new song "Today I'll See The Sun", the one that promoted everyday. It's from the album: "In My Heart" together with her singles "Everytime" (from TweenHearts), "Ang Pag-ibig Kong Ito" (from Temptation of Wife). If you want to download it in mp3 format. Chowking Moment

Here's my wet shirt.

Sunday afternoon, we went to the shopping mall to buy something. But my brother is hungry so we went to Chowking to take a snack. But there was an embarrassing moment before we leave the fastfood chain. Oh my... I've been messed up with my iced tea. My shirt looked so untidy here in the picture. Everytime we ate at fastfoods or restaurants with a beverage of an iced tea drinks, I thought its kind of a "jinx". Despite of that, I don't believe in any badluck or any lucky thingy.

Before our Christmas vacation, I shot some stolen clips from my classmates, all of the characters in this video are all my classmates. I just clicked the record button and so on. There's no director, writers, and scripts. I've just recorded it. I edited it for almost 4hrs. It's an unofficial music video for "Your Love' by Jim Brickman. I made it just for entertainment purpose only.

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic, Philippines

My current phone model

The Nokia5630 XpressMusic is a very decent entertainment cellphone. But nowadays, here in the Philippines, it's almost "discontinued" unit of Nokia. Cell shops have been stopped for selling this amazing cellphone. In my estimation, it runs about almost a year only (June 2009 to July 2010). Most of they are selling today are smart phones and the very expensive touchscreen phones. This phone is my all-around inexpensive gadge. For its cheap price, it has mp3 player, 4GB memory slot, Wi-Fi capability, 3.2 megapixel camera, it supports most of the video and audio codecs, and it's look like a remote control - what a great phone. Sadly, like the stated above, this Nokia unit is hard to find on some cell shops today. But I'm happy that I have this phone and I treat this as a "limited edition".

Star Flyer, Star City, Pasay City

We went to Star City, Philippines as a gift for ourselves. It was on Dec.18,2010 Saturday. This one is awesome. Like on the picture, this ride is very fast and scary. My classmate and I were in the line that was too long and there was a drizzle during that time. So the operators temporarily stopped their outdoor rides specially on those roller coasters like Star Flyer and Zyklon Loop.
